A REPORT ON THE VISIT TO THE STATE GENERAL HOSPITAL, IJEBU-ODE

The students embarked on an educational visitational to the State General Hospital, Ijebu-Ode on Thursday, 25th July, 2019. It was a career empowerment excursion for the students aspiring to carve out a niche for their career in the medical field.

After the warm reception by the Representative of the CMD, the students were led on a tour round the various departments of the hospital by the Chief Nursing Officer, Mrs. Olaleye. The first point of call was the pharmacy department, followed by the nursing department where the heads of both departments enlightened the students about the various areas of specialization in their respective fields. They were also orientated about the WASSCE and UTME requirements, as well as dogged determination that is needed in the pursuit of their medical career.

Other places visited were the main operating theatre, surgical wards (male & female), medical wards (male and female) paediatric ward, ante-natal clinic physiotherapy dab and the accident emergency ward. The aspiring doctors, nurses, pharmacists, physiotherapists and surgeons among our students were intrigued and fascinated by the exposure to the point that they inquisitively asked mind-blowing questions from the doctors and nurses.

The tour ended with the presentation of waste dust bins as gifts to the hospital as act of community development service by the College.
